(ROCK HILL) Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Davis Shirley, 83, passed away Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, in her Rock Hill, S.C., home.
She was born December 4, 1928, in Chambers County, AL. A graduate of Samford University in Birmingham, she was, along with her husband, a classic New Testament Minister of the Gospel. Betty and Harold served as ministers to a half dozen loving churches in several southeastern states.
She is survived by her husband, Harold A. Shirley; daughter, Jan Robbin Shirley Rierson; son, John Kennedy Shirley; granddaughter, Shirley Michelle Franks and her husband, Michael Franks; and grandson, Davis Anthony Rierson and his wife, Audrey Keeling Rierson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Betty Shirley Education Fund at Oakland Baptist Church in Rock Hill. An evening of visitation will be held at Oakland Baptist Church from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 28. A celebration of the magnificent way she lived life to its fullest and best will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at Oakland Baptist Church.
