Rev May was the son of John W. & Jane M. HUDSON MAY and grandson of James & Nancy TULLOS MAY.

He married:
(1) Martha J. TAYLOR on 29 May 1892. Children: John Fount, Rosa J, James Walter, Anse McLaurin, Frank A, Lillian & Lollie MAY.
(2) Bessie C. PATRICK. Children: Carrie Leona, Earl Brewer, Grace Otto, Lola M, Hazel Gertrude, Wilma Agnes, Archie Daniel (AD), Mittie Beatrice & Rubye Lee.
(3) Ora SHOEMAKER. Children: Joseph K. and James Wilburn "JW" Jr MAY.
