Mrs. Maude Moody Carroll, 95, of Solar Drive, Hudson, and a native and former resident of Boone, died Tuesday morning, May 21, 2002 at her home.
She was born July 8, 1906 in Watauga County, a daughter of William Preston and Martha Emma Fletcher Moody.
Mrs. Carroll was a member of Hudson United Methodist Church and a former member of the Boone United Methodist Church where she served as the Communion Steward and treasurer of the United Methodist Women.
She was a member and treasurer of the Boone Worthwhile Women's Club and member and treasurer of the Mountaineer Garden Club. Mrs. Carroll retired from the Appalachian State University Business Office.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Raymond Carroll; one daughter, Enid C. Coffey of Hudson; one son, Aaron J. Carroll of Hickory; one granddaughter, C. Lynn Coffey Smith and husband, Lynn, of Hudson; and one great-granddaughter, Meredith Friga and husband, Paul, of Chapel Hill. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Plato Moody and Austin Moody; and seven sisters, Nettie Hayes, Virgie Danner Hayes, Carrie Hayes, Kate Rogers, Bina Loville Graham, Mabel Odem and Alice Moody.
Services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Dr. Tim Brittian. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens.
The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 1-2 p.m., prior to the services, at the funeral home.
