Malinda Isabell Daniel was born
in Davis county, Iowa, December 28,
1851, and departed this life March
2, 1946, at the age of 94 years, 2
months and 4 days. She was the
seventh child in a family of eleven
children, 5 boys and 6 girls, all of
whom preceded her in death.
She was united in marriage to
Aaron A. Evans, March 30, 1871.
Her husband departed this life on
August 20, 1905. To this union was
born a family of 2 boys and 4
girls. Two of the daughters passed
away at an early age, Viola at 2
years and Vietta at 16 years. Iva
M. Horn, Estella C. Johnson, Charles
W. and Will L., all of Monterey,
survive her. She also leaves 7 grandchildren
and 10 great grandchildren,
and 4 great great grandchildren.
She united with the Christian
church at the age of 14 to which
faith she remained a faithful adherent
to the end.
She was a woman of strong convictions
and a rigid conformist. She
never compromised with wrong and
evil, nor dissembled with the truth.
She rigidly disciplined her own way
of life and reared her family in the
same manner. Her life was rich and
full in service to the community in
which she lived. She administered to
the sick and afflicted, aided and
comforted in bereavement and death
presided at the birth of her neighbor-
hood's newly born. So widely varied
were her activities of service that
they have become almost legendary.
Now this fine lady is gone. Her
place in the family council is vacant
but she leaves behind memories
of a life of such unselfish sacrifice,
service and devotion that
truly her children can rise up and
call her blessed.
Funeral services were held Sunday
afternoon, March 3, at the Wagler
Funeral Home in Bloomfield, and
at the grave in the Johnson cemetery
near Monterey. The services
were held by her nephew, W. F. T.
Evans, of Centerville.
