Mr. Hobert Kiser of Madison, formerly of Deputy, entered this life on April 21, 1924, in Polly, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Charlie & Maude Gibson Kiser. He was raised in Whitesburg, Kentucky and moved to Jefferson County near Deputy in 1963. He was inducted into the United States Army on May 6, 1943, during World War II, rising to the rank of Private First Class. He fought in the battles and campaigns of Ardennes, Rhineland, & Central Europe. He was wounded in Germany on April 13, 1945. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 22, 1946 from Camp Atterbury, Indiana and was awarded two Purple Heart Medals, the EAME Theater Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Hobert was affectionately known as "Coal Miner" by his family and friends. Hobert was united in marriage on January 22, 1948 in Pikeville, Kentucky to Susan Juanita Lucas. To this happy union arrived four daughters and two sons to bless their home. He was employed with Rexnord Chain Belt as a welder for twenty years retiring in 1983. He was united in marriage to Tabitha Fields on March 14, 1996 in Deputy, Indiana. To this union arrived three sons to bless their home. He had worked early in life as a coal miner for several years down in Kentucky. He was a member of the Valley Settlement Old Regular Baptist Church near Deputy, Indiana. Hobert was a disabled American Veteran and was a very Patriotic man. He enjoyed squirrel hunting, collecting guns, and socializing with his family and friends. Hobert died Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 7:41 am at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison Indiana.
Hobert will be missed by his loving daughters: Brenda Wolf of Madison, Indiana, Debbie Higgins & her husband: Joey of Canaan, Indiana, Shannon Hamilton & her husband: Kevin of Deputy, Indiana; his loving sons: Kenneth R. Kiser and Keith Kiser & his wife: Rebecca all of Madison, Indiana, Jimmy Hall & his wife: Annetta of Whitesburg, Kentucky, Levi Kiser, Zachary Kiser & Joshua Kiser all of Madison, Indiana; his step son: Ricky McIntosh of Madison, Indiana; his nine grandchildren: Jerry, Joe, Susan, Chris, Heather, Jacqui, Cody, Ethan, & Daniel; his eight great grandchildren: Casey, Alyssa, Randy, Cassidy, Sunshine, Camden, Madelyn & Coleman; 1-brother: Joe Kiser of Whitesburg, Kentucky; 1-sister: Thursa Baker of Whitesburg, Kentucky; numerous nieces, nephews & other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents: Charlie & Maude Gibson Kiser; his brothers: Buford Kiser & Arthur Kiser; his daughter: Patricia Vann Kiser died in 1954; his great granddaughter: Ashton Leigh Lawson died: June 5, 2003; his sisters: Viva Spicer & Rose Wallace.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, July 18, 2010 at 1:00 p.m., by the Rev. Mike Shuler at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana.
