Marlene-aka "Slick Hind", Marlene got this nickname from her brother Gerald, he caught her walking in her sleep one night. She was down at the Holy water fountain either trying to pee in it or wash herself with the water- from then on she was "slickie."

Marlene had the lightest skin and hair color in her family, (From her sister Kathy-I can remember the time Marlene got a terrible, terrible sunburn- it left huge blisters on her back)

She hated the sun - didn't like to garden or pick blackberries-she preferred to stay at home and do housework. Not an athlete, we could never talk Marlene into playing sports outside with us, she didn't want to play cards with us either (probably because the games always led to big fights.) Marlene was a cheerleader, very smart, intelligent girl, she was the first girl to go to college with an English major, and a minor in French.

Marlene never got her drivers' license, bur she did get a permit, Kathy said she begged to drive the car once to St. Elizabeth, and that she was a terrible driver.
Marlene was always the peacemaker for her younger siblings, breaking up many fights.

Marlene had the biggest heart, always taking her sisters with her, or letting them borrow anything of hers they wanted.

Marlene was the Angel among us, so good to her Mom, her brothers and sisters. Adored by her friends, Marlene loved unselfishly, Mom remembered Marlene saying if anyone in our family had to die, she hoped she would be the first because she couldn't stand losing any of us,
Marlene's death was a great tragedy for her family.

Note... I never met Marlene, but from all the love that is in her family, if she was the best, then I understand why GOD needed this Angel back..........GOD SPEED Marlene....Carole
