Gerald Louis Luetkemeyer, age 83, of St. Elizabeth, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Tuscumbia on August 16, 1937, son of the late Ben and Lucy (Oligschlaeger) Luetkemeyer. On April 19, 1969, in St. Thomas, Gerald was united in marriage to Mary Kay Boessen, who survives at their home.

Gerald was a 1956 graduate of St. Elizabeth High School. Following graduation Gerald joined the Army and was honorably discharged in 1964. He was a lifetime farmer and was also employed with Chrysler Manufacturing in Fenton and the highway department in Jefferson City. From 1964 to 1969 Gerald owned and operated the St. Elizabeth tavern. 1969 was a big year for Gerald, he not only married his loving wife Mary Kay, but he also bought the family farm down Twin Creek Road in rural Tuscumbia and built their family home.
Gerald had many hobbies including playing the harmonica, dominos, coyote hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also enjoyed barbecuing and hosting fish fries at the river with his family and friends. He was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth.

In addition to his loving wife, Mary Kay, he is also survived by three daughters, Kim Gerling (Paul), Karla Holtmeyer (Doug), and Kristy Libbert (Kevin); one son, Steve Luetkemeyer (Kim); 13 grandchildren, Jacob Gerling, Allison Gerling, Trenton Holtmeyer (Paige), Megan Bruemmer (Ted), Braydon Holtmeyer (fiancée, Courtney Scheulen), Sheldon Holtmeyer, Zachary Holtmeyer, Dustin Libbert (Danyelle), Madison Libbert (fiancé, Logan Pinnell), Ashlyn Libbert, Gerald Luetkemeyer, Samuel Luetkemeyer, and Joseph Luetkemeyer; great-grandchildren, Wade Holtmeyer (his sibling due in September), Kaysen Bruemmer, Karlee Bruemmer, Kellan Libbert, and Rennen Pinnell; siblings, Anton Luetkemeyer, Carolyn Johnston (Jim), Dick Luetkemeyer, Larry Luetkemeyer, Janice Hake (Francis), Pat Luetkemeyer (Carol), Mike Luetkemeyer (Selma), Kathy Raithel (Mike), and Julie Wilson (Bob); and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy Luetkemeyer, Eleanor Beck (Al), Mary Ann Beaver (Joe), and Marlene Luetkemeyer; brother, Bernie Luetkemeyer (Rochelle); and three sisters-in-law, Marcella, Marilyn, and Marlene Luetkemeyer.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth with Fr. Joby Thomas officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at St. Lawrence Cemetery in St. Elizabeth.
