Anna Louvenia Dutton Sweat Koon...My Mom...What a Lady!!!

God blessed me with a wonderful mother. She was the world's best mom ever!

My mom and dad took me in when I was 13 months old and adopted me when I was 18 months old.

Mama worked at the Olympia Mill in Columbia, SC but shortly after adopting me, she retired to be a stay-at-home mom. When my dad died January 1, 1968, she stayed tough and strong, yet loving and gentle. We were BEST friends!

She remarried 1 1/2 years after my dad died and then was widowed again 7 years later. From that time on, it was just me and her.

Her favorite color was blue. She loved her coffee (two cups first thing in the morning, every morning, or else!), fried chicken (from Church's Chicken or Bojangles), hamburgers, pepsis, ice cream and popsicles.

She never met a stranger. She was quick to greet and strike up a conversation with anybody and everbody she came in contact with. She was funny, compassionate and had a heart of gold!

She was a BIG Clemson Fan. I'm a Gamecock fan, so we had a very interesting, yet fun, time every year when Clemson and Carolina played football!

But most of all, she was a fine Christian Lady who loved the Lord Jesus Christ, and one day I know I'll meet her again in Heaven. Before she died she promised to "Meet Me By The River" and I look forward to that day when the Lord calls me home. After I meet Him, she's the very next one on my list of reunions. I LOVE YOU MAMA!!!

St. John 14:1-4 (KJV)

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
