Anna Saip was born at Vysoky, Mejto, Czecho-Slovakia, May 6, 1856, and died at her home at Narka February 25, 1930. The Saip family came to America during the summer of 1856, and settled near Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In 1872 they moved to a homestead south of Munden, and two years later she was married to Joseph Bouska. They homesteaded near Tabor and lived there until 1886, then they sold the old homestead and bought a home 3 miles south and 2 east of Narka, which was known as the Old Home Place. Here they raised eight children, all of whom live to mourn the passing of their beloved mother.
In 1908 the Bouska family moved to Narka, where Mr. Bouska had acquired business interests. Mr. Bouska preceded her into the better life Aug. 24, 1921, on the 47th anniversary of their wedding day.
Mother Bouska passed away after a severe illness due to heart trouble. She was very patient through all her suffering, quiet and calm even to the very moment she was taken from us.
Besides her eight children, Joseph of Haddam, Anna of Narka, Mrs. Mary Paulicheck of Narka, George of Denver, Anton of Narka, Charles of Haddam, Sophia of Narka, and Luther of Haddam, she leaves to mourn, her three brothers, John Saip of Narka, Wesley of Belleville, and George of Munden; and one sister, Mrs. Helen Houdek of Cuba; seven loved grandchildren; her son-in-law and daughters-in-law; her nieces and nephews, and very many friends.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Paroulek of Weston, Nebr., and old friend of the family, and Rev. Croft of the Narka Presbyterian church. Interment was made in the Bouska Mausoleum at Maple Grove cemetery, March 1.
She will be missed not only by her children, to whom she was always their best friends, but by a host of friends and neighbors, for she was so good and so kind to everyone who knew her that to know her meant to love her. When we hear one of her loving grandchildren say, "Grandma's gone," we know by the forlorn voice that the love between them transcended all understanding.
