Lettie Hulet was born in a small cabin in Alta, Uinta (Teton) County, Wyoming. Lette's mother had homesteaded the land upon which they were living. Lette grew up in this area and in Summit, Utah. She was among the first graduates of Teon High School in Driggs, Idaho. After graduating from High School, she passed a state examination which entitled her to become a teacher. Her teaching career did not extend over many years because at the age of nineteen she married Douglas Peter Sorensen in the Salt Lake Temple on December 20, 1917. Douglas also became an educator and combined teaching with farming and ranching.
Most of their life Douglas and Lette lived on a farm in a small communty called Darby, which is located southeast of Driggs, Idaho and in Alta, Wyoming, just across the border. She passed away in May 1977.
