Johanna Cinader married Bernard D. Donnelly at the Episcopal Registry in Davenport on May 2, 1874. The Episcopal Church had burned down a few days earlier.
The couple moved to Fargo, North Dakota. Their sons, Willis Bernard Donnelly and Ralph Frank Donnelly, were born there.
Johanna's older sister, Mary Cinader Mathews, died in 1886 while visiting Johanna and her family in North Dakota.
After the death of her first husband, Johanna married Allen Andrew Armstrong on 15 May 1929. Allen was originally from Canada.
