William Edward Scarlett, 80, of Mill Run, R.D.1, Ohiopyle road, died at his home at 3 o'clock this morning after an extended illness.

He was born March 12, 1873, near Mill Run, a son of the late William and Elizabeth Stull Scarlett.

Mr. Scarlett was a member of the Hickman Chapel Baptist Church.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Margaret Stark Scarlett; three sons, Richard of Mill Run, Dewey of Greentown, Ohio, and Earl at home; two daughters, Mrs. Edna Burnsworth of New Salem, R.D.1, and Mrs. Inez Treacher of Mill Run; one brother, David of Ravenna, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Birdie Petty of Birmingham, Ala., and Mrs. Lily Reed of Republic, Ala.; 25 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Prudence Orndorff, died on July 3, 1929.

A prayer service will be held at the Brooks funeral home at Indian Head at 1:30 o'clock Monday afternoon with additional rites at 2 o'clock at the Hickman Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
