Son of George Brown, Immigrant, also known as "George Brown, Sr." (1690-1770) and Mary Nancy Stevenson (1698-1776).

On Nov. 17, 1759, Richard married Honor Wells. Honor was the daughter of James Wells (1668-1771) and Ann Stevenson Thornborough (1690-1773). Honor had been married previously (Aug. 15, 1738) to William M. Holmes (1715-1758)

Colonel Richard B. Brown and Honor Wells Holmes Brown had three children; Rachel Brown (1760-1815), Richard Brown, Jr. (1762-1842) and Margaret Brown (1765-1838).

Richard married second, a lady named Ann, no further information on this marriage.

He married third, Honor Stephenson.

Colonel Brown earned his title "Colonel" as a patriot soldier and officer in a Maryland Regiment in the War of the Revolution. Colonel Brown had local renown as a fighter in personal contests.
