Richmond, March 5. --- Saturday evening (3 March 1906) at his home in this village, following an illness with kidney trouble extending over the past three yeaers, occurred the death of Joseph Ahmann, Sr., aged 76 years. Deceased had been failing quite rapidly for the few weeks preceding his death.
Joseph Ahmann, Sr., was born in Germany, in 1830 and in 1875 -- thirty-one years ago -- he emigrated to America, coming direct to Stearns county (Minnesota), where he took up a home at St. Martin, his residence continuing there for seventeen or eighteen years. The last thirteen years he has resided at Richmond.
A widow and ten grown children survive. The names of the latter are: Mrs. John (Elisabeth) Klaser, Torah; Henry Ahmann, St. Martin; John J. Ahmann, Torah; Theodore Ahmann, St. Martin; Mrs. John (Johanna) Traun and Joseph Ahmann, Torah; Lewis J. Ahmann, Sioux Falls, S. D.; Mrs. Jos. (Josephine) Berthoff (sic Berghoff), Prosser, Wash., Mrs. Joseph (Magdalena) Waggoner, Donnelly, Minn.; Mrs. Michael (Rose) Nierenhausen, Roscoe.
The funeral is to be held on Tuesday morning at 9:30 at St. Peter and Paul's church and will be under the auspices of St. Joseph's of which the deceased was a member. Mass for the repose of the soul will be said by Rev. Ignata Wasseling, O.S.B.
