COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Kenneth Ashburn, 79, of Baxter will be held Thursday, May 17, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Dobbs Cemetery.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, May 16, from 5- 8 p.m. and Thursday, May 17, from 7 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
Mr. Ashburn died Monday, May 14, 2007, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 10, 1928, in Putnam County to the late Esker and Fannie Herron Ashburn.
Mr. Ashburn worked for the State Highway Department and Tennessee Department of Transportation. He was also a member of Stevens Street Baptist Church.
His family includes his wife, Paulina Jo Ashburn of Baxter; his son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Wendy Ashburn of Hooper, Utah; his daughter and son-in-law, Joan and David Barrett of Sparta; three sisters, Reba Goff and Pearl Nash, both of Baxter, and Ruth Sherrell of Cookeville; six grandchildren, Becky and Kenny Barrett, Katie and Jackie Butler and Kaycie and Markie Ashburn; and four great-grandchildren, Ashley and Barrett Streeter and Tavin and Shaylyn Butler.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ashburn was preceded in death by three sisters, Inez Deweese, Lorene Allison and Lillie Vinson.
Pallbearers will be James and Don Goff, Richard Cocharn, Robert Mahan, Ernest Allison and Mark Dixon.
Memorial donations may be made to Dobbs Cemetery or Rock Community Church Building Fund in Sparta.
Bro. Tim Frank will officiate the services.
