Turner Britton was born in Dotson, Panola Co. Texas, the son of John Offie Britton & Vinnie E. Fallwell. He was the grandson of Benjamin Fanklin Britton & Julia Ann Floyd.

On March 10, 1943 Turner joined the navy. He served as part of the crew of the USS Essex. He is mentioned in the book, "USS Essex" by Philip A. St. John.

After his service to the country, he started his own company in the Oil, gas & water well drilling equipment business. At retirement he sold the company and settled in the Longbranch area near where he grew up. Turner enjoyed writing country music and also spent his last years doing genealogy research on his family roots.

He was previously married to Wynonia Katherine Mahan. Children were Elvin Turner Jr. & Sharon Dyann Britton.

note - I met Turner around 1992-1993 when he contacted me to let me know we were distant cousins. (His great grandmother was my great grandfather's sister). We spent many enjoyable times corresponding, making trips to the old cemeteries in Louisiana and East Texas and doing family research)
