Zodok or Zodock Bowen was born the son of Absalom and Jane Ross Bowen in West Virginia. He moved to Boone Co Indiana with his parents. After his marriage to Sarah Slokum in 1852, they moved to Clinton, Douglas, Kansas. There he was a farmer until his death.
Sarah and Zodok had 6 children. Five of them are buried adjacent to Zodok and Sarah. Times had to be hard when many lost their entire families to some dread disease.
Zodock married again to Minerva Rankin in 1869. They had 3 additional children.
