Old Settler's Death
Zebulon D Brown sic (Bowen) , an old settler of the neighborhood near Bertha, died at the home of his son , Solomon, last Saturday from old age.
Mr Bowen was born in West Virginia, May 29 1829. He came with his family to Nebraska in 1882 and settled on the farm in Burt county, which has been his home the past twenty seven years. He was married November 24, 1845 to Miss Mary E Calfee and to them were born three sons and one daughter. One son, Solomon, and the wife survive him. Mr Bowen was well off in this world's goods. He owned 280 acres of find farming land and other property.
The funeral services were held at the late home Tuesday, conducted by the Rev Warne of Oakland M E Church. Interment was at the Grace Lutheran Cemetery.
