Mrs. Artie Louise Davis Burgess, 83, of Ellijay, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010.
She was born Feb. 16, 1927, in Gilmer County to the late Richard Cleveland Davis and Harriet Lowe Davis. She was employed in the textile industry and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Burgess.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Joann and Alvin Reece, Robin and Skip Thomason; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Kathy Burgess; brother, Burley Davis; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 11, 2010 at 2 p.m., from the New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Jones and the Rev. Roger Burgess, officiating.
Music was by Barbara Rittenberry and the New Hope Choir. Pallbearers were grandsons Neal Burgess, Jason Burgess, Adam Reece, Todd Reece, grandsons-in-laws Chad Corum, Chris Couch & Joe Weaver. Interment was in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
