Fannie was the daughter of Joseph & Jane Jenkins Cheatham. She married Moses Grimes, the son of James & Millie Dennis Graham, on November 8, 1860 in Garrard County. The couple started their family in that county, but relocated to Jessamine County c. 1880. After that time they, and their descendants, used the surname of Grimes. They raised their large family to adulthood in the Wilmore area.
In her latter years, Fannie moved to Ohio, which allowed her to be closer to several of her children who had relocated to that state. Her brother, Ralph Cheatham, lived in Norwood, Ohio, as well. Mrs. Grimes passed away from the effects of mitral incompetence, complicated by myocardial weakness. Her remains were sent to Jessamine County and laid to rest, at the Wilmore Cemetery, beside those of her late husband.
