Dorothy E. Houston, 86, of Rte. 2, Barnett, died Thursday, June 4, 1987 at Ozark Care
Center in Osage Beach. She was born May 31, 1901 in Eldon to John Thomas Sr. and Nancy
Alice Jobe Watt. In 1924 she was married in Eldon to Porter Houston, who died Dec. 14, 1934.
Mrs. Houston was a graduate of Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg and she taught school for 42 years, teaching in Barnett, Raytown, Cuba and Versailles. She retired from teaching while with the Versailles School District. Mrs. Houston was a member of the Barnett Union Church; Barnett Chapter 303, Oreder of the Eastern Star; the American Association of University Women; Delta Kappa Gamma; and the Missouri State Teachers Association.
Surviving her are three sisters, Louis Allen of Lake Ozark, Alice Vernon of Eldon and Ruth Thomas of Iberia; and a brother, Joe R. Watt of Eldon.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon with the Rev. Wendall Estill officiating. Burial was in the Eldon Cemetery.
