Alice Irene Vernon, 95, Florissant, died March 8, 2002, in St.Louis. She was born Sept. 4, 1906, in Eldon, a daughter of John and Nancy Jobe Watt. She was married to Lloyd Bishop, who preceded her in death. She was later married to Aubra Vernon, who also preceded her in death.

A graduate of Central Missouri State Teachers College, she taught 40 years in Miller County, retiring from Eldon Public Schools in 1971. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star, where she was worthy matron. She was a charter member of American Association of University Women. A member of Barnett Baptist Church, she was a board member of the Miller County Division of Aging.

Survivors include: one daughter, Nancy Thompson, Maryland Heights; two sisters, Louise Allen, Lake Ozark, and Ruth Thompson, Iberia; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home.
The Rev. Randall Bunch will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
