Bobby Richard Wakefield, 77, of Centerville, died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville.

Bobby was born on August 10, 1932 in Unionville, Mo., the son of William and Grace(Stargell)Wakefield. He grew up in the Cincinnati area and graduated with the class of 1950 from Cincinnati High School. Following his graduation, he entered the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. Following his discharge, he began a 30 year career for the Oscar Meyer Company in Davenport. Following his retirement he moved to Centerville in 1985.

Bobby was a member of the First Baptist Church in Centerville.

He is survived by two brothers, Woodrow Wakefield of Davenport and Everett Wakefield of Centerville; and two sisters, Sarah Hanson of Milan, Ill. and Ruth Benz of Centerville. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Wendy Mohn and Angie. Boby is also survived by his special friend, Joann Davis of Centerville, along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harold, Ersel and Harry, sisters Leaha and Anna, Irene Clark, Irene Walker, Esther and Alice Stewart.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, June 8 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the Rev. Lloyd Johnston officiating. Internment will follow in the Philadelphia Cemetery. Visitation will be held today from 1-8 pm with the family present from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Memorials in his name are requested to the Philadelpia Cemetery..
