SMITH - John R. Smith, 63, Rock Cut Road, died at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 1963, in his home. Born Dec. 22, 1899, in Harlem Township farm near Argyle, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Smith. His father died in 1950. Married to the former Elizabeth J. Brown in Caledonia Dec. 31, 1924. Employed as a farmer. Member of Willow Creek Presbyterian Church of which he was an elder, also a member of the church's Men's Club, and a trustee of Scottish Cemetery, Argyle. Survivors include: his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Mervyle Peterson, Rockford; a granddaughter, Cindy Lou Peterson, Rockford.
Services at 1 p.m. Tuesday in BURPEE-WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 420 N. Main St., with the Rev. Lester Reemstma, pastor of Willow Creek Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial in Scottish Cemetery. Friends may call at funeral home from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
