George, son of John N. and Barbara E. Schilling Kult, was born February 15, 1901, in Carroll County, Iowa. He attended the rural schools near his home. He was united in marriage with Hazel Irene Piper June 26, 1929 in Coon Rapids. They lived in Des Moines for the first three years after their marriage and then moved back to Coon Rapids where he worked for the Coon Rapids Municipal Utilities for 24 years. He retried in 1967. George and Hazel celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1979.
George passed away at the St Anthony Hospital, Carroll, on Tuesday, May 18, 1982, at the age of 81 years, 3 months, and 3 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by two brothers, Peter and William Kult, and by two sisters, Anna Barber and Elizabeth Altepeter.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel, of Coon Rapids, by a son, Neil and his wife, Marie, of Williamston, Michigan, by a daughter, Barbara, and her husband, Marlow Eiben, of Austin, TX.; seven grandchildren: Dan, Nancy, Sandy, Doug and Kathy Kult, and Jeff and Julie Eiben; three sisters: Loretta Rafferty, Coon Rapids, Barbara Reil, Guthrie Center, and Clara Christensen, Spirit Lake.
George was a member of the Annunciation Parish of Coon Rapids and also had been a Coon Rapids volunteer fireman.
The Rite of Christian Burial was Friday, May 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Annunciation Church with Fr. Edward V. Carpenter officiating.
Casket bearers were Bernard Kult, William Kult, Robert Reil, Cleo Christensen, Joe Christensen and Richard Rafferty. Honorary casket bearers were Lee Miller, Jake Smouse, Dr. A.H. Dorpinghaus, Lyle Knight, Lewis Frohlich, Charlie Thomas, Merlin Wait, Delbert Goodwin and Elmer Emery.
Interment was at Annunciation Cemetery.
