John Becker Passes Tuesday

John W. Becker, 76, life-long resident of the Guttenberg community, died Tuesday, June 9, at 9:45 a.m. Death was due to a sudden heart attack.

Funeral services for Mr. Becker will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Tuecke funeral chapel here with Rev. E. W. Kraemer, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, officiating.

Burial will be in the Guttenberg City cemetery with the following as pallbearers: Albert Backes, Carl Ulbrich, Carl Kirschbaum, Delores Thein, John Beitzel and John Ryan.

Mr. Becker was born on December 11, 1893, in Jefferson Township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Christ Becker. On May 7, 1919, after serving in World War I, he married Sylvia Nuehring at Guttenberg.

He was a retired farmer and had made his home in Guttenberg for the past few years.

Surviving Mr. Becker are Mrs. Becker; three sons, Chris W. Becker of Cedar Falls, Otto A. Becker of Hazel Park, Michigan, and Donald L. Becker of Victor, and one daughter, Mrs. Herman Walke of Guttenberg.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, as well as a brother, Albert C. Becker of Guttenberg, and a sister, Mrs. Elsie Reinecke of Clearwater, Florida.
