Date of birth is c. 1755 according to verified DAR applications.

Entered the Rev. War as a volunteer. Following honorable discharge he was drafted into service.

Married Salome in Wilkes Co., NC in 1781.

Joseph lived in Morgan County 42 years before his death. His widow applied for his pension on Dec. 12, 1847.

He is buried in an unmarked grave.

Edit to the bio: Joseph Marion Stonecipher/Stincipher married Salome FAIRCHILD. Many have attributed her to the Rose/Ross family, but that is in error. Joseph and Salome shared land with her father, Ebenezer Fairchild,
at Howard Creek, near Boone, North Carolina. Salome is named in Ebenezer's Last Will & Testament. Also, many DNA connections have been made connecting descendants of Salome with other Fairchild descendants of Ebenezer Fairchild. (contributed by member #47211768).

JOSEPH MARION'S FATHER (no Find-a-Grave Memorial as of yet): Johann Heinrich Steinseifer, born Oct. 1, 1724 in Eiserfeld, Principality of Orange-Nassau-Siegen, Holy Roman Empire (now Siegen/North Rhine-Westphalia/Germany). He died in 1821 in Ashe County, N.C. Johann Heinrich was the eldest son of:

JOSEPH MARION'S GRANDFATHER (also no Find-a-Grave Memorial): Johannes 'Mark' Jakob Steinseifer. Johannes was our first German-American emigrant ancestor and a common ancestor of practically all Stoneciphers (however spelled) in America. He was born July 6, 1698 in Eiserfeld and died July 21, 1757 in Culpeper, VA. He and wife Elizabeth (Schuster) and 7 of their 8 children (Johann Heinrich emigrated to America 4 years later) landed in Philadelphia on Sept. 19, 1749 aboard the ship 'Patience' out of Rotterdam.

Re: "Previous Edit by member Philip Stonecipher (50112031)"
When we first added these two notes in the Bio Information, I made the comment that neither Joseph Marion's father or grandfather had Find a Grave memorials yet. I noticed recently that's no longer true: father John Henry Stonecypher (Johann Heinrich Steinseifer in my German reference) and our prime ancestor/Joseph Marion's grandfather, Johannes Jakob "Mark" Steinseifer, now have their own F-a-G pages. I suggest we leave the two original notes as is and precede those with this sentence: "Joseph Marion's father and grandfather now have their own Find a Grave memorial pages (see earlier notations that follow)."
