SALOME FAIRCHILD STONECIPHER

Daughter of Ebenezer Fairchild and Salome Gobil.(spelling taken from 1st Presbyterian Church of Morristown, NJ. Some spell the name Goble/Gobel.)

Married Joseph Marion Stonecipher in about 1781 in Wilkes County, North Carolina.

FAIRCHILD – Salome Fairchild was born about 1755 to Ebenezer and Salome (Gobil) Fairchild while her parents were living in Morristown, Province of New Jersey and members of the First Presbyterian Church of Morristown. Her family migrated to the New Jersey Settlement in North Carolina in about 1763 and on to Wilkes County, North Carolina by 1770. In Wilkes County, North Carolina she met and married her husband, Joseph Marion Stonecipher in 1781. The Fairchild & Stonecipher families lived next to one another in Captain Brown’s District in Wilkes County. Salome and Joseph Stonecipher were the parents of 12 known children. In 1800 Joseph obtained land in Howard Creek, North Carolina that had been pioneered by his father-in-law, Ebenezer Fairchild. Ebenezer Fairchild drew up a Last Will & Testament in 1790 naming Salome as one of his daughters. He died in 1806, sixteen years after the death of his wife, Salome (Gobil). After the death of her parents,the Stoneciphers moved to Morgan County, Tennessee where Salome died in about 1848, a widow of a Revolutionary War Patriot. ■ Also Fairchilds, Fairchilde
