Susan was born to William and Lucy Busby on Feb. 10, 1815 in Sumner Co. Tenn. She grew up and fell in love with Thomas Groves Denning and they were married on Aug. 16, 1834 in Sumner Co. Tenn. He was 24, she was 19. They lived on a plantation in Henry Co. Tenn. and there is a family gravesite named the "Dinning Family Cemetery" where 4 generations lay buried. Susan died on Nov. 28, 1876 in Weakley Co. Tenn. Her husband had preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1876.

Her Children:

James "Jim " Madison Denning---b. Nov. 28, 1835 and died Dec 6, 1864 at Camp Morton prison (Civil War) from pneumonia . He was married to a Miss Crittenden and they had a son, James Jr., and 2 girls.

William Monroe Denning--- b. April 9, 1837 and died Nov 17, 1861 at the Battle of Belmont. (Civil War). He was married to Pollie A. And had a son N. B. Groves (1857-1872).

John F. Denning--- b. June 12, 1839 and died 1872. He was married to Miss Ann Smythe in 1867. Their son was Cullen M. Denning (1867-1872, 5 yrs. 8 mo.) and James Pinkney Denning b. 1869 (and he had a Jr. also) and family made mention of another child, Addie Steel. John was wounded at Battle of Shiloh.

Thomas Jefferson Denning--- b. Sept. 5, 1842 and died Nov. 4, 1904. He married Mary Frances Bragg on Dec. 21, 1869 . (She was the daughter of William J. Bragg and Jane D. Dunlap). They are buried in Hopewell Cemetery, Weakley Co. Tenn.

America Denning--- b. Dec. 1843 and died Jan. 5, 1869. She was an invalid from birth but lived to be 25 years old.

Robert Breedlove Denning--- b. (Jan.--March ? ) 1846. His death unknown at this time. He was married to Artemissa Heath issued on July 19, 1878. They had 5 children then moved to Texas.

Francis Marion Denning-- b. Sept. 20, 1847 and died Feb. 20 1876. Two weeks before he was to be married, he died from pneumonia.

Isaac Newton Denning-- b. 1851and died (1930 San Antonia, Tx. ???). He was married to "Jennie" Euphrain Heath issued Aug. 22, 1878. They had 6 children and later moved to Texas. ( Heath sisters married Denning brothers)

Bennetta Alece Denning-- b. April 17, 1852 and died March 6, 1876. She was married to Robert Watson Dunlap on Sept. 14, 1870 ( issued) and they had 2 children, Minnie and Robert, before she died with pneumonia on March 6, 1876.

Julia A. Denning-- b. 1855. She married a Mr. Dunham, and later a Mr. Edwards. She ended up in Houston, Tx. with a bunch of children and lived to be nearly 80 years of age. She was redheaded.
