Louis Walker was born to Charlie and California Ferrell Walling. He was raised in the Grapeland area. Later as an adult the Walling family moved to Oklahoma for a few years. I have never found out why. They did come back to the Elkhart, Grapeland area. Louis was living in Okla, when he came back and married Nannie Parker of Elkhart, Texas. They married Dec. 4, 1900, Anderson Co. Texas.
Louis was the grandson of A. Elisha and Amanda Williams Walling of the Daly Community, Houston County, Texas.
A. Elisha had came to the area with his parents, Joseph and Katherine Anderson Walling in 1835, and settled in that area.
Louis and Nannie made their home in Elkhart.
Louis and Nannie had four children;
Raymond, died as a baby or at birth.
Gladys, Myrtle (Myrt), and
John Walker.
I do remember seeing him once. He was a very old man at the time, in 1954. I guess just before his death.
My cousin told me a story about his mother's uncle, who was a Walling, always digging holes looking for gold on everyone's property. I recently have found out it was Uncle Louis. What an interesting story. Now this would have been back in the 1940's.
