MRS. FLOYD DURHAM (Obit.)

Mrs. Floyd Durham, 101, died Friday, August 7, 1998 at 2 p.m. at her residence in Durant.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 9 at Southern Funeral Home in Durant. Officiating ministers were Rev. Robert Jenkins and Rev. Dan Watts. Burial was in Mizpah Cemetery. Mrs. Durham was a member of the First Baptist Church of Durant.

Mrs. Durham, a staunch supporter of the East Holmes Academy. She has donated over $125,000 to the academy.

She was one of the original members of the Castalian Street Garden Club, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, and the Durant BPW Club. She and her husband, the late Walter Durham, Sr., ran the Walter Durham Grocery for many years.

She is survived by her son, Walter Durham, Jr. of Durant.

Active pallbearers were Bobby Irby, Charlie Irby, Billy Irby, Frank Drake, W. E. Durham, Buddy Hathcock, Eddie Johnson, David Cain, and David Drake.

Honorary pallbearers were Bill Cox, Joe York, and Miles Ray.
