Grafton Burgess (Bud) Hilliard, 72, well known resident of the Stanley section, passed away at 4:!5 p.m., Tuesday, April 26th, at the P.M. Hospital, where he had been a patient for only one day. Mr. Hilliard had been in failing health for three months.

Mr. Hilliard was born near Shenandoah on June 2, 1882, and was a son of the late Charles R. Hilliard and Margaret Eaton Hilliard. For seven years he was employed on the Norfolk and Western Railroad until his eyesight failed in 1924. He was a loyal member of the Hilliard's Chapel Church and was one of the founders of that church.

On January 25, 1905, he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Nancy Jenkins, who survives him with the following children: Mrs. Alma Painter, of Arlington, Mrs. Leon (Pauline) Good, of Stanley, Mrs. Robert (Naomi) Shuler, of Shenandoah, Mrs. Dillard (Magdaline) McDaniel, of Stanley, Mrs. Elby (Ruby) Cubbage, of Stanley, Arthur G. Hilliard, of Arlington, and Charles D. Hilliard and Harry H. Hilliard, both of Cheverly, Md. Also surviving are 31 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and two brothers, Charles S. Hilliard and Franklin D. Hilliard, both of Stanley.

The Rev. John Henderson will have charge of the funeral service to be held, Friday, April 29th, at 2 p.m., at the Hilliard's Chapel Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
