Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her residence Nithview Community, New Hamburg on Thursday, April 29th, 2010. Lena was born 90 years ago in Brunner, Ontario and was a daughter of the late Jacob H. & Mattie (Steinman) Albrecht.
Loving wife of Robert Shantz whom she married September 24th, 1949. Dear mother of James & Sandra Shantz of Baden, Dennis & Ferne Shantz of Crosshill and Paul & Christine Shantz of New Hamburg. Cherished grandmother of Jonas, Leah, Colin, and Nathan. Sadly missed by brothers and sisters Harry & his wife Lucille Albrecht of Kitchener, George & his wife Edith Albrecht of London, Ervin & his wife Marjorie Albrecht of Kitchener and Eileen & her husband Gord Woolner of Kitchener. Lena will also be remembered by her sisters-in-law Laurene Albrecht of Drayton and Eleanor Albrecht of Kitchener. Lena was predeceased by her brothers and sisters Lorne & his wife Emma Albrecht, Emanuel Albrecht, Armand Albrecht, Selina & her husband Enos Boshart, Clara & her husband Alvin Schlegel, and Verna & her husband Carl Siemon.
Lena was a member of Shantz Mennonite Church, Baden. She enjoyed quilting and gardening.
Friends and family will be received at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg today Saturday, May 1, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Lena's life will take place on Sunday May 2, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Shantz Mennonite Church, Baden with Pastor Ellie Witzke-Heubner officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee.
