Lona was my Momma and the 7th and last living child of Andrew Leon Tutt and Margaret 'Maggie' Lollar. Her mother died during childbirth when Lona was three years of age. She was raised by her father whom she called 'Pa' and the older sisters, when possible, provided the "motherly" touches. Since I couldn't imagine growing up without a mother, I was amazed by her! There was never a "poor me" attitude - just a glowing and loving memory of Pa and each of her siblings.

Lona married Willie Roosevelt 'Bill' Holley and to this union was born six children - four boys and two girls. Along with these children, they raised and loved William Howell Rhyne as their son (Grandma also claimed him and he called her Momma.) William was the son of Bill's sister, Pearlie, who died when he was three.

My mother received a "mother" when she married my father and she treated her as her own mother. Grandma lived with my parents and was listed with them on the 1930 and 1940 census in Dallas County, TX. They enjoyed each other and I never heard any negative or hateful comments from either my mother or my grandmother about each other.

When my father accepted his call as a Minister and later became a Pastor (when I was a baby,) my mother also accepted her calling as a Pastor's wife. She had a caring and loving heart which was manifested to everyone who knew her. She was a beautiful person and I miss her so!
