Gene Edward Holley Sr., 83, of Wichita Falls passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Life Church on Seymour Highway, with Gene's service immediately following. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.
Gene was born on December 24, 1939 in Dallas, Texas to W.R. and Lona Holley. At the age of 6 his family moved to Wichita Falls to plant a Pentecostal Church now known as Life Church on Seymour Hwy. He joined the US Navy in 1958 and served on the Aircraft carrier, the Ticonderoga, until 1962. Upon his return to Wichita Falls, he married his wife and love of his life, Joann Glazier, on May 17, 1963. He was employed by Bendix Field Engineering and transferred to Waldorf, MD to track satellites. They moved back to Wichita Falls in 1965 while expecting their only son. Gene then pursued a career in civil service at Sheppard Air Force Base until 1980 when he bought a small personal computer store located in Fre-Mar Valley. He and his wife, Joann, grew The Computer Store to relocate at the corner of Call Field and Rhea Road where they serviced many offices, schools and individuals with their computer needs for 25 years before their retirement.
He is loved and survived by his son: Gene, and wife, Karla, grandsons: Cameron (wife Brooke), Chad (wife Elycia), and 4 great-grandchildren: Tayla, Zach, Nora and Kinsley. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Gene is preceded in death by his loving wife, parents, and all of his siblings. He had four brothers: E.L. Holley, J.W. Holley, Donald Holley, and William Rhyne; along with two sisters: Freda Green and Laverne Bradley.
His life is a testimony of healing power as he called on His God and outlived all predictions by doctors; that testimony continued in the lives of those who received a touch from God through his faith-filled prayers in those latter years. We salute you sir and follow in your steps! Sail on to that higher place.
