Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Jane B. Karpe, 68, 701 Stephenson, who died at 7 p.m. Wednesday in her house after a brief illness. will be held at 4 p.m. today in the Greenwood Cemetery. She will be buried there under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
Mrs. Karpe, born in Gueydan, had been a resident of Shreveport for 50 years.
Survivors include one step-son, Harvard E. Karpe of Houston, Tex.; one daughter, Mrs. R.E. Scherz (Chesley) of Chicago, IL.; three brothers, Joseph Chauvin, Henry Chauvin and Clifford Chauvin; four sisters, Mrs. Ola Gahn, Mrs. Vivian Knedler, Mrs. Beulah Bourriague and Mrs. Virginia Tircuit; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The daughter of Michel Merrill Chauvin (1866 – 1916) and Rosa Lea Falgout (1871 – 1947), Jeanne was one of their twelve children. Jeanne's siblings were:

Jeanne married Gustave Joseph Beslin on June 24, 1920. They had a daughter, Chesley B. Beslin Scherz (1921 - 2000) and a son, Gustave Joseph Beslin, Jr. (1923 - 1970). Tragically, Gustave Sr. was killed in a car/train wreck in Jefferson Davis parish in 1927. He is buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Section 81.
Jeanne married Shreveport dentist, Dr. Arnold Blum Karpe (1888 - 1949) on August 26, 1932. Jeanne would pass away in Shreveport in 1970. She is buried in the Masonic Rest section with Arnold and her son Gustave, Jr.
