WM BLAKELY ANSWERS THE SILENT CALL

This community was saddened Monday evening by the death of Wm Blakely, a pioneer settler of Blaine county. Mr Blakely’s health had been very poorly for some time and for the past few weeks had been bedfast.
In spite of loving care and the skill of doctors, his condition became steadily worse and he passed away Monday evening. We extend sympathy to the sorrowing relatives.

OBITUARY

James William Blakely was born in Freemont county, Iowa, May 6, 1873, departing this life July 20, 1928, age 55 years, 3 months and 24 days.
He came with his parents to Cherry county, near Purdum, in 1888. The family moved to Dunning in the fall of 1893, where he has since resided.
Those who survive to mourn his loss, are his mother, Mrs Jane Blakely; six brothers, Thomas of Dunning, Robert of Central City, Albert of Dunning, John of Los Vegas, Nev, Arthur of Lincoln, and Chester of Plainview; also two sisters, Mrs F H Field and Mrs B R Baker, both of Dunning.
His father passed away on July 4, 1913, a sister and brother also departing this life in their infancy.
Mr Blakely had been in failing health for several months, not being physically able to attend to the work of his homestead, where he resided, a few miles north of Dunning. His untiring desire to perform the necessary tasks kept him active until a few weeks ago he was compelled to seek medical aid, at which time the grave character of his illness became evident. Although the unlimited kindness of his relatives and friends, as well as the best medical skill, were bestowed upon him, it proved of no avail, he gradually failing in strength until relieved of suffering.
During the long residence in Blaine county Mr Blakely made many friends, who mourn with those of the immediate family in the loss of a devoted son and brother.
The funeral service was held at the Congregational church, conducted by Rev W D King, on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. A quartette, consisting of W C Robinson, William Mackey, Mrs George Welch and Mrs Earl Johnson, with Mrs W C Robinson at the piano, rendered some beautiful selections, also a beautiful solo by Wm Mackey. The remains were laid to rest in the Dunning cemetery.
