Shirley O'Hair, 78. died Wednesday, May 13, in High Plains Baptist Hospital, Amarillo. She was the wife of Pat O'Hair, Quail farmer and former county commissioner. They lived at Quail for many years before moving to Amarillo.
Mrs. O'Hair was born September 1, 1908 in Jack County. Her parents were Thomas Montgomery Clay and Katy Dodson Clay. She moved with her family to Collingsworth County near Quail in 1918, settling in the Ring Community. She married Mr. O'Hair December 29, 1928, in Wellington. They lived at Quail for more than 60 years until they moved to Amarillo to be near children in 1985. She was a member of Quail Baptist Church and Quail Friendship Club.
Survivors are her husband, Pat O'Hair of Amarillo; two daughters, Louise Timmons of Perryton and Reba Fletcher of Amarillo; four sisters, Hassie Arnold of Plainview, Alta Tyler of Friona, Lena Young of Brownfield, Ola Mae Crosby of Wellington; one brother, Herbert Clay of Muleshoe; grandchildren, Looney Timmons of Amarillo, Mike Timmons of Oklahoma City, Sheila Ellerbrook of Lubbock, Louis Fletcher of Tampa, Fla., Debbie Hoover of Lindale and James and Dwayne Fletcher, both of Amarillo. There are 8 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. O'Hair was preceded in death by three brothers. Stewart Clay, Bill Clay and Horace Clay and two sisters, Cora Clay and Adelle Burdine.
