Joseph Addison Unthank was married to Cynthia Susan Saint on 2 Mar 1848 in Henry County. they had a son Samuel born in 1849. After his first wife died in 1855 he later married Susannah B. Reed on 25 Feb 1857. They had 2 children, Sarah Lulu and Harry R. Unthank. After Susannah's death he married Martha May Day. Day was from a previous marriage. Martha brought 2 children into this marriage, Amos S. Day and Albert S. Day.
Joseph was a carpenter and a cabinet maker.

WAS BURIED BY MASONS; FUNERAL OF ADDISON UNTHANK AT SPICELAND SUNDAY--GREENSBORO LODGE HAD CHARGE OF SERVICES
Spiceland, March 7--The funeral of Addison Unthank was conducted here at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the home of Rev. Anna Thomas. About sixty Masons, chiefly members of the Greensboro lodge, of which the deceased was a charter member, were present and the last sad rites of the order were conducted by Worshipful Master Rufus Hinshaw. Burial was made in the local cemetery.

Mr. Unthank, in addition to being a pioneer member of the Greensboro lodge, was a Knight Templar and had taken all the York and Scottish Rite degrees
