Frank M. Crain of Augusta Dies
Frank Matthew Crain, of Augusta was called to peaceful and final rest last Wednesday morning at 1 o'clock in Blessing Hospital, Quincy. Mr. Crain entered the hospital only a few days before his demise but had previously been hospitalized on several occasions. Despite this fact, loved ones and friends, were deeply grieved at the news of his death.
Frank Matthew Crain was born September 9, 1867 on the Crain farm in Schuyler county. He was the fourth child in a family of ten children born to Wm. H. and Rachel Baxter Crain, whose parents were early pioneers to Illinois from Kentucky and Ohio.
Until five years ago, when he became a resident of Augusta, Frank spent his entire life on the farm with the exception of a year and a half in New Mexico.
For many years he was a member of the Pulaski Methodist Church which was disbanded in 1929. Since that time he was [sic] attended the Methodist churches in Huntsville and Augusta.
Two of Frank's brothers and two of his sisters died in infancy. Also preceding him in death were his father and mother and two brothers, Ralph W. Crain of Arlington, Va. and Frank's twin brother, Fred Hoyt Crain.
The members of the immediate family now living are Wm. M. Crain of Washington, D.C., Harry and Mary Crain of Augusta.
Rev. B.D. Mallinson, pastor of the Methodist church, officiated in the rites held Friday afternoon at 2:30 from the Methodist church in Augusta.
The remains were laid to rest in Pulaski cemetery. Casket bearers were Sterling Ambrosius, Earl Hoyt, Harold Hoyt, Bernard Cain, Glen Robison and Lawrence Graham.
