Herman G Steegman, Sr., 87, a former employee at the Findlay Country Club, died at 11:15 o'clock Monday evening at the Findlay hospital from a heart ailment and the infirmities of age. He had been ill for the past three weeks and had been in the hospital since Sunday.

Mr. Steegman was born in Osnabrook, Germany, Dec. 9, 1858. He came to Hancock County in 1894 two or three years after he had arrived in New York from Germany. He resided in Findlay ever since. He was married in 1883 to Minnie Henrich now deceased. To this union were born nine children, eight of whom are living as follows: Mrs. Paul Hensel, Brooklyn, N.Y.; Louis Steegman, 520 East Lincoln Street; Bernard Steegman, 1230 Lima Avenue; August Steegman, 251 Prospect Avenue; Mrs. Clarence Wolfe, Port Clinton Road; Mrs. Frank Ostrosky, Cleveland; Mrs. Fred Mittlehouser, Lake Worth, Fla.; Mrs. Ford Stahler, 746 North West Street, Lima. One child, Walter, died in 1928.

In 1903 he was married to Katherine Dennison of Ironton and to them four children were born: Herman G. Steegman, Jr., at home; Mrs. Carl Jackson 226 Clinton Street; Mrs. Ralph I. Huston, 132 19th Street. A son, John, died in 1913. He has one sister living, Mrs. Henry Luben, New York City. Three sisters and one brother preceded him in death.

He was employed as a wire drawer until that industry was disbanded in Findlay. Afterwards he was employed by the Buckeye Pipe Line Company until he entered the employ of the Country Club. He retired eight years ago after having been with the Country Club for a dozen years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran church for 52 years.

The body was taken to the Coldren Funeral Home where the funeral will be held at an hour to be determined later, pending word from relatives away from here. Rev. H. Ward Grieb will officiate and burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral home.
