Born in Schalke, Germany, she was the daughter of Herman and Wilhelmina (Henrich) Steegmann and attended St. Peter's Lutheran Church in New York City. Her husband, Paul Arno Hensel died on Jan. 6, 1970.
Surviving are a son, Paul F. Hensel of Mount Vernon; three daughters, the Misses Ruth and Beverly Hensel of Mount Vernon and Mrs. Lois Hicks of Yorktown Heights; three brothers, Herman Steegmann of Fort Wayne, Ind., Bernard Steegmann of Findlay, and August Steegmann of North Baltimore, Ohio; four sisters, Mrs. Carl Jackson, Mrs. Martha Wolfe and Mrs. Ralph Huston of Findlay, and Mrs. Ford Stahler of Lima, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
