She was born July 2, 1913, in Frankenstein, daughter of J. Gus and Nellie Haslag Kremer, both deceased.
She was married May 9, 1939, in Frankenstein, to John P. Broker, who preceded her in death on December 26, 1987.
Gertrude was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Church, in Frankenstein, and a member of the Ladies Sodality. A lifelong resident of the area, Mrs. Broker was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and sewing.
Survivors include one son:
Elmer Broker and wife Gerry of Frankenstein; four daughters:
Mary Alice Stokes and husband William of Frankenstein,
Betty Trippensee of Taos,
Agnes Kever and husband Leonard of Frankenstein and Cathy Borgmeyer and husband Virgil of Meta;
19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren;
three sisters:
Pauline Thoenen of Westphalia,
Martha Backes of Westphalia and
Betty Brandt and husband Tony of Linn.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Ronald Trippensee;
five sisters:
Annie Backes,
Johanna Thoenen,
Hilda Troesser,
Josephine Roettgen and
Sophie Backes;
and one brother: Martin Kremer.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2006, at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Frankenstein, with Rev. Father Mark Porterfield officiating.
Interment will be in the Garden of Gethsemane Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, October 9, 2006, at Morton Funeral Home in Linn, with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's School in Frankenstein. Arrangements are under the direction of Morton Funeral Home in Linn. 573-897-2214.
