Walter Lane, known as "Dub" Ward, was the oldest of five children born to Walter W. and Jane Lane Ward.

"Dub" met Zula Belle Foreman in Baytown where he was working and she was attending Lee Junior College. They married August 20, 1938 in her family home in Teague, Texas. They were the parents of two children - son, Walter Lane Ward,Jr., and daughter Nelda Jean Ward.

"Dub" died of cardiac arrest on November 16, 1974 at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown. He was only 59 years old at the time of his death.

Walter Lane "Dub" Ward -

Funeral services for Walter Lane "Dub" Ward, 59 of Baytown, have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Baytown with Rev. Gary Bonner and Rev. Robert Cheek officiating.

Ward died Saturday. Burial services will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

He was a retired employee of the Exxon Baytown Refinery.

Ward is survived by his wife, Mrs. Zula Ward of Baytown; son, Walter Lane Ward, Jr. of Houston; daughter, Nelda Jean Ward of Baytown; mother, Mrs. Jane Ward of Rosenberg; sister, Mrs. Janice Davis of Rosenberg; brothers, Dr. Bill Ward of San Antonio and Sid Ward of Rosenberg.

Pallbearers will be Fred Clark, Jim Frank, Dr. Max Mosesman, V. V Ramsey, Jimmy Fontenot, and Martin Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Strickland, Preston Pendergrass, Bob Wiley, Charley Walker and Lacy Lusk.

Earthman Baytown Funeral Home will be in charge of funeral arrangements.
