Jane, the daughter of Richard and Mollie C. Lane, was born in Kentucky on December 27, 1893. Shortly after Jane's mom died, her dad moved her and her brothers to Rosenberg, Texas.

Her father traded at the grocery store where her future husband, Walter Ward, worked, and that is how they met. He would send notes to her in the groceries. They were married on Sunday, June 7, 1914 in the Christian Church in Rosenberg.

The Wards were the parents of five children, 3 sons and two daughters. They were Walter Lane (W. L.) Ward, William Wilson (Bill) Ward, Sidney Richard (Sid) Ward, Mary Brooks Ward, and Janeice Rebecca Ward Davis.

Jane was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was so proud of her family.
