Obituary
Volney Bassett was born in the state of N.Y. December 19th, 1932, and died at his home in Bristol, Wis., July 31, 1891, being 58 years, 7 mos. and 12 days old. The deceased came to Wisconsin in 1843 and has been a resident of Kenosha Co. ever since with the exception of three years, which was spent in Farabault, Minn. About two years ago he fell victim to LaGrippe and never completely recovered. For the past year he has been a constant sufferer and death came at last as a welcome messenger. Mr. Bassett was one of our most industrious and respected citizens and will be greatly missed by the many friends he had gained by his long residence in Kenosha County. The funeral services took place at the Bristol M.E. Church on Sunday, August 2nd, and the body laid quietly to rest. The mourning friends have the sincere sympathy of the entire community.
