The death of Mrs. Hannah B. Purcell occurred on Monday, March 16, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. W. Ackles, five and a half miles south of Red Oak, death being caused by dropsy after an illness of nearly three years. Hannah B. Beans was born on May 27, 1837 at Purcellville, Virginia and was united in marriage at Bellefountain, Ohio on October 18, 1860 with Joseph L. Purcell. To this union ten children were born, who are Mrs. Ida R. Murray, St. Louis, Missouri; Mrs. Alice M. Ackles, Red Oak; Mrs. Lulu J. Stafford of Eatonville, Washington; Miss Blanche Purcell of Peoria, Illinois; J. O. Purcell of Red Oak; Mrs. Minnie Harsh who passed away at Peoria, Illinois, in 1908; Mrs. Maud M. Skinner of Lincoln, Nebraska; William Purcell of Stockton, California; Mrs. Adda E. Brookhauser of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Claude A. Purcell of Everett, Washington.
Mrs. Purcell was a member of the Methodist Church and the funeral was held yesterday afternoon, March 19, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. W. Ackles, Rev. F. N. Willis conducting the services. Interment was made in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Purcell was a loyal Christian woman, a devoted mother and wife, kind and patient through all her illness. To the sorrowing family the sympathy of their many friends is extended to them in their bereavement.
