The Reverend Weltie Baker was born of Curtis and Elizabeth (Shoemaker) Baker. He married first Annabelle Barns. She died in 1927. He then married Beulah S Stanton (1888-1989). At the time of his death at age 93, three sons and one daughter were surviving. He was ordained into the ministry in 1906 in White Chapel Church, Indiana. He later received a BA degree from Defiance College in 1912. Before landing in Ohio, he served in various capacities in PA, NY, MA, and VT. Just prior to retirement he was the pastor in the Oren United Church of Christ in Sidney and Lostcreek United Church of Christ near Casstown. His later postings were to churches in Lima and in Piqua, OH In failing health for the last two years of his life, he spent t his time at the Trinity United Church of Christ Home in Dayton, OH.
