Mrs. Lucile Baird died in St. Joseph's Hospital at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, June 14. She had been seriously ill since early in the year, and her condition had been critical for a number of weeks.
She was the secretary in the Wellington office of Vumore and its successor, Cablecom General for 15 years.
Mrs. Baird was the former Lucile Black, daughter of the late W. C. and Goldy Nalley Black, and was born September 3, 1909 in Harmon County. Wellington had been her home for the last 39 years.
She became a member of the Baptist Church early in life.
Survivors are two daughters and two sons: Mrs. Sam McGill of Wellington, Mrs. Mack Boyett of Amarillo, Don Baird of Odessa, Gene Baird of Winter Park, FL; and two sisters: Mrs. J. A. Corbitt of Dalhart and Mrs. Thomas Gibson of Friona. There are 11 grandchildren.
One son, W. C. Baird, died November 10, 1948 while serving in the Armed Forces in Japan.
