Don was born October 16, 1932 to Sidney and Lucile Baird in Dodson, Texas. He grew up in Collingsworth County and graduated from Wellington High School with the Class of 1947. He married the love of his life, Ruth Bryant in 1950.
They moved to Odessa and he went to work as a pipeliner. For the last 25 years, Don worked in the family business, Bulldog Iron & Metal, with his son Wes. He was a life time member of the Masonic Lodge, a 32nd degree Mason. He was a Southern Baptist and both Don and Ruth were devoted to family and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; his brother, W. C. Baird; and his sister Patsy Boyett.
Survivors include his son, Wes Baird of Odessa; his daughters Pam Ross and husband Kenney of Big Spring and Debra Solis of Charlotte, NC; his brother, Gene Baird of Kerrville; his sister, Dorothy McGill of Wellington; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
